Message | Mr. Speaker, this would be the beginning of the end for our nation. Without the mandatory service, young adolescents will no longer understand the benefits of obeing, working together and creating an understanding between one another. The strength of our nation will be demolished from the base. If we allow all to carry firearms, without restriction, we will create in our very own country a social flegm which will endanger the security of our citizens. One should not necessarily be admitted to own a firearm just because he or she never was caught on a criminal act or doesn't show any signs of mental illness. This is wrong. Message | Mr Speaker, We are sympathetic to the argument that parents should be able to choose to educate children at home, but this is a strange issue to attach to legislation that opens with gun rights. Wider ownership, availability and supply of guns will lead to more crime, more serious accidents and a higher rate of successful suicide attempts. We in the Lodamun Democratic Party wish to keep the peace, not threaten it. We do fully agree with the ending of compulsory service, and our own Demilitarization Act will achieve it. We respect those who have brought this bill forward and our partners in government who are entitled to support it, but we cannot join them. Rida Baulmer Deputy Minister of Justice |
