This act will formalize the procedure for the granting of political and religious asylum. This act is conditional on the taking in of refugees being legal. The Head of Government has the ability to grant political asylum. The Head of Government must cite a cause for his/her granting of political or religious asylum. The Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Foreign Affairs may also grant political or religious asylum independently. The Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Foreign Affairs must cite a cause for his/her granting of political or religious asylum. The granting of political or religious asylum by the Minister of Foreign Affairs or Minister of the Interior may be vetoed by the Head of Government. Those granted political or religious asylum must be in fear for their lives or fundamental liberties to be eligible for asylum and the granting of asylum may be challenged in national courts. The granting of asylum to refugees due to reasons other than political reasons (i.e. for war, famine, and other similar conditions) shall not be affected by this act. |
