Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 4313
Description[?]:
At present alcohol may only be purchased from a limited number of government outlets The Liberal Party proposes to allow all appropriately licensed outlets to sell alcohol to adults only We believe this strikes a better balance between the state's interest in ensuring responsible drinking laws are enforced and the rights of Malivian entrepreneurs to operate licensed brewers distilleries or serve beer or wine with food at restaurants. We believe this will reduce potential issues caused by illicit distilleries, and that appropriately regulated licensed alcohol sellers will uphold responsible drinking guidelines and contribute additional tax revenues.
