Message | Mr. Chairman, Whilst I and most of my colleagues have much sympathy and respect for the Greens, we do come down on opposite sides of the argument on these proposals. The one-car-per-household proposal is well-meaning, but it would place an unfair burden on families where more than one members needs access to a car. GM crops are a good thing, so long as they are responsibly handled. We should not try to halt the advance of scientific improvement. A rational approach is needed. We would like to improve animals welfare standards, but given the current conditions of the agricultural sector, we are concerned that stricter laws on animal welfare could cost too many jobs in the countryside. However, we could probably support such a law at a future point. Anton Weinreich General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party |
