Bill: Freedom of Religious Remuneration Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4314

Description[?]:

At present ministers of religion may not receive any remuneration for their work, even if their community values the work they do and wishes for them to be able to dedicate themselves towards their work full time. This means that all religious figures, whether Hosian or Gerajan, junior or senior, must work in alternative employment to earn their sustenance.

We believe the government should not interfere in the compensation of religious leaders, and it should be entirely down to the faithful to make such decisions on if and how they are to be remunerated, and to pay for their religious ministers to be compensated if they see fit.

We believe such a change is compatible with the principles of a modern, secular state which neither endorses any religion nor seeks to interfere in ecumenical matters.

MessageReligion is not a good thing in Malivia. We at the Greater Malivia Party believe that pride for one's state should come before religion, and therefore, moving the power of remuneration from the state to others is a complete betrayal of the Greater Malivia Party's ideals.
So I implore you all to vote no on this act, maybe not for our reasoning, but only to keep power in the state of Malivia.

MessageWe in the Liberal Party are respectful of the many Malivians who do not profess any religion, and will always protect their right to freedom of belief. Likewise, we expect that those who are believers may administer their own affaird

The state has many valuable roles to play in Malivian society. Depriving ministers, priests and gurus of a livelihood is not one of those roles.

Random fact: Cultural Protocols should generally be reflective of RP conducted within the nation and should not significantly alter or modify the ethnic, religious or linguistic composition without considerable and reasonable role-play or other justification.

Random quote: “The people's war isn't just a war of destruction, it is also a war of construction. We will build new facilities, new hospitals, new farms. We will seek to improve the lives of the people around us. This struggle will be as costly as the struggle against the bourgeois army, and indeed will be even more damaging to the enemy.” - Comrade X, former Hulstrian politician
