Bill: An Act to Proctect Freedom of Religion Cencerning Vaccinations
Details
Submitted by[?]: Hutori Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4315
Description[?]:
Currently in Hutori, we mandate that all children must be vaccinated. While the Conservative Party strongly support vaccinations, there are many cultures that do not. We believe that forcing children, who come from a religious family that does not believe in vaccinations to be vaccinated, is a violation to their freedom of religion. |

Message | Mr Speaker Whilst we understand where the Conservative Party is coming from with this proposal, we cannot support it. The health of children is vastly more important than the religion of parents. Those who would deny children proper medical treatment are committing negligence. Individual freedom of religion does not mean freedom to impose your religious beliefs and practices on others, especially children who are not able to speak up for themselves and make the decisions. |

Message | Mdm. Speaker, We prefer this issue to be up to local governments, along with pretty much everything else, but alas, legal options for decentralization do not exist for this issue. For that reason, we must go with our own policy. Parents do not have a right to endanger their children, regardless of what their delusional superstitious views say they must do. The scientific consensus is clear, vaccines save lives. - Lyn Kopp Ambassador of the Ataraxian Confederation |

Message | Madam Speaker, We agree that vaccines save lives. We won't argue that but what the Ataraxians fail to recognize is that others have very different beliefs. We should not be forcing parents who do not believe in vaccinating their children to do so. It infringes on their religious freedoms. We know that the Ataraxians do not believe religion should even exist as proven by them being the only party with seats in the house to vote in favor of the Abolition of Religion Act. But as Hutori has allowed them to follow their own beliefs and live the way they want to, it is complete hypocrisy for them to not believe others should be allowed to follow their own beliefs and live the way that they want to. Message | Mdm. Speaker, We do not fail to realize others have different beliefs, the Conservative Party should not lecture us on this. Furthermore, we have already stated that had there been a legal option to delegate this issue to local governments we would do so - we are not hypocritical. Due to the fact that there is no legal option to delegate this issue to local governments, we must deal with it how we would deal with it locally, mandate vaccinations for all children. Continuing, this is not just an issue of "personal freedom", but also one of herd immunity. If various delusional and neglectful parents decide not to have their children vaccinated, they will be putting other children at risk who for one reason or another have not been vaccinated. Lastly, if "religious freedom" permits that children be put at risk of disease, then that's just one more reason why religion has no place in any civilized society. In that case, religion would literally be a cause of disease if one uses it to justify not vaccinating "their" children. What next, will the Conservative Party propose allowing parents to molest children on the principle of "religious freedom"? What if a religion believed in underage marriage? How far are they willing to take religious freedom? Far enough apparently that they are willing to endanger the very lives of children. - Lyn Kopp Ambassador of the Ataraxian Confederation |

Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, it is the responsibility of players to ensure the candidate boxes on their Party Overview screens are filled in with appropriate names. If a player is allotted seats in a Cabinet bill and has not filled in names for the relevant candidate position, then the program will automatically fill in the positions with names which might not necessarily be appropriate for the Cultural Protocols. |
