| We do not believe that a modern nation such as ours should continue the practice of using the death penalty and should be replaced with incarceration for life. To impose death on an individual citizen when there is a clear alternative is an extraordinarily unjust practice, not to mention the years of complex legal arguments, trials, appeals and retrials before the sentence can even be carried out. In any justice system there will always, regrettably be miscarriages of justice where innocents are found guilty of crimes. If they are in prison, they can be released. If they have been executed, the justice system which sentenced them and the parliament which allowed such punishment would have blood on their hands. |

| Message | Mdm. Speaker, On the contrary, imprisonment is far more torturous and barbaric than the death penalty, which puts the convicted offender out of their misery once and for all. If someone is wrongly convicted, that is the fault of the method of conviction rather than the death penalty. Furthermore, if communities are willing to use mass surveillance, evidence will be in far more abundance - thus reducing potential false convictions. May we suggest inert gas asphyxiation as the preferred method of execution, as long as the subject breathes in a pure gas supply, they will be rendered unconscious almost immediately and will thus die momentarily after.
