| Herr Huspresident, We will strive for a balanced budget. It is something our first four-party government had promised. My first budget proposition did not pass. I don't know what did not suit Alliansen. Maybe it was the defence budget cut. We keep it intact now, at a still high level. It might be argued that there are worries on the horizon. Hulstria still under the brutal dictatorship, and what is going on in Kalistan. Some more bills have been passed. Apart from some subsidies having been withdrawn, some laws have been laxed, which answers to the cuts in some departments. The royal house requires a lot more resources now with its activities in promoting the provinces. The most controversial part of the proposition shall be the great raise on sales tax. We harmonize it so that all goods shall be treated the same, there is no need to try diversify what is "luxury" and what not, all material goods get taxed the same. We should be ready for this, as we have drastically lowered income taxes, there is more competition on the market to lower prices, and we have instituted the Basic Income which props up the lowest incomes. To offset how the raise in sales tax mostly affects the poorer strata, we raise the Basic Income, which is seen in the social services budget. The lowering of income taxes and the raise in sales tax is the best improvement Kazulia can make for ecologism. Humans and their work is taxed less - the use and consumption of material goods is taxed more.
