Description[?]:
The Supreme Court of Kalopia is the highest court of the land and its 9 judges are appointed by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister. All justices serve for a life term or until they choose to retire. The Supreme Court has the power to override all decisions made by lower level courts and also serves as the national Courts of Appeal. The Supreme Court shall also have the jurisdiction to block actions by the government if it deems it to be overreaching its powers or subverting due process of the law, or if the government tries to harm national interest with that action. The Supreme Court shall also receive cases filed by political parties and organisations against the government, and has the right to permanently seal a case, meaning that if the case is thrown out, a similar case cannot be brought in by the same individual again unless under special circumstance, in which such a case would have to go through the Courts of Appeal before being heard by the Supreme Court. The 9 judges (with party affiliation in brackets) and [gender in square brackets] are: • Artemus Pavlis (EPS) - [M] • Christos Martis (EPS) - [M] • Daedalus Chaconas (EPS) - [M] • Kristian Mitros (EPS) - [M] • Stavros Pangalos (EPS) - [M] • Stefano Floros (EPS) - [M] • Stephon Gounaris (EPS) - [M] • Timmy Antonios (EPS) - [M] • Theodora Spiteri (EPS) - [M] |
