Bill: Unconditional Surrender to Coalition Forces

Details

Submitted by[?]: Haruzuterēchisuku Refonpātī

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 4318

Description[?]:

Party Members,

Our Chancellor has gone (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=549383), our capital stands on the verge of ruination and further bloodshed is inevitable.

The only way to avoid this is to unconditionally surrender to the Coalition forces.

Therefore, I ask Party Members to decide on our nation's fate. Vote Yes for unconditional surrender; vote No to continue to fight the war or attempt to bargain for a conditional surrender.

Given the urgency of this matter I will put this immediately to the vote and ask members to think long and hard about their decision.

MessageThe idea of surrendering is preposterous. Our Reichskanzler called for total war and that is what we should offer up to the enemy. Every citizen stands by to do their duty and defend our territory. I for one will not give in to them.

General Reinhard von Thaller
Minister of War

OOC: This basically means my faction will abstain on this vote with Kohl and his supports' wishes being offset by von Thaller and his cronies.

MessageWhat citizens are left, Herr General? The few remaining in our capital? Let us face it, we have lost this war and we have lost hearts and minds. They are cheering the coalition forces, the Septembrists and the Communists, from Hulstrian to Kunihito. It's over. We need to salvage what is worthwhile about our country, and sure defeat is not a way to do so. You must be either a military genius or a fool if you think this situation can be salvaged.

So... tut mir Leid. Ja, einfach ja.

MessageWith all due respect, mein General, Oberst Gehring is right. Our only form of salvation comes in the unusual package of surrender. But, the Expansionist Partei stands with you on one thing. We need not surrender unconditionally. We shall sit with those who were the targets toward which we directed our fury. We will make terms beneficial to both sides. Only in that way will we have a chance of victory.

OOC: This means we will surrender, but conditionally. (No option for that though.)

MessageVery well, on your heads be it.

Your actions here make a mockery of our beloved chancellor and possibly his last wishes, if he does not pull through. I for one will not share a room with such cowards. This is no longer the party I signed up to, therefore, I resign my post... let us see if you can do any better.

MessageMembers of the Party,

It is clear the direction the majority of the party members wish to go in - even clearer when you take into account that 50 per cent of my faction also wish to vote yes to this. Therefore, I will begin to open channels of communication with the coalition forces as soon as possible.

Colleagues, this may well be the end of our party rule after 70 years; however, it is clear that if we do not end this now the bloodshed that would follow during the defence of our capital would be unimaginable. I, for one, can not sanction this to preserve our way of life any longer.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.
