MessageComrades,

To give a bank independence, separated from the watchful eye of an elected and replaceable government official, is to mark the countdown to our enslavement by the very economy we create. As a wise Dundorf Emperor once uttered, "Banking institutions are more dangerous than standing armies." The central bank being under the control of the Ministry of Finance allows for important monetary controls to be implemented and crises to be avoided. It gives us an oar, small though it may be, to steer us down these free market tides you all insist we continue to tread.

If our party had its way, these banks would be demolished and turned into grain storage. Yet we continue to operate these malicious entities at our own peril. Allow us some minor control over them, for the good of the people. Deflation, inflation, monetary control is best left in the hands of officials whose incentives are reelection by those people they serve - not their own vile greed and profit.
