OOC: Updating the Conduct and Succession of the Monarchy Act - http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=467691 Article 1 Aldegar is declared to be a Shahdom led by a Shah. Article 2 Succession to the throne shall be limited to the descendants of the Shah Shahnam II (r 4246 - 4251) and . The monarch is entitled to nominate any heir from those who are eligible to succeed. The advice of the Cabinet and leading opposition parties must be sought in the consultation process but the final decision rests with the monarch. Article 3 The National Divan may at any time, alter the succession law as it sees fit. This shall be done by passing a bill with the support of at least two thirds of all members of the National Divan. Article 4 The preferred successor shall be the eldest son of the Shah by his most senior wife, the Shahbanu. Where succession is unclear, a Succession Council composed of 5 representatives from the royal clan, the Yazdean priesthood, the National Divan and the Wuzurgan (grand nobles) shall pick another successor. This may also be done where the preferred successor is deemed to be unfit by either the Family Council or the National Divan. Article 5 The Shah shall serve as the symbol of the state and unity of the Aldegarian people. Each exercise of public authority shall be based on the advice of a responsible Minister otherwise it would be invalid (except where legislation provides otherwise) Article 6 The Shah shall have the responsibility of nominating a Court Minister on the advice of the party or coalition commanding a majority in the National Divan. Article 7 A Regent shall be appointed by the Cabinet from among members of the royal dynasty where such an action is deemed necessary Article 8 Violating the Shah's royal dignity (lese-majeste, defamation, insults etc) is an offence punishable by a fine or imprisonment. |
