Description[?]:
National Assembly Members, This national government quite rightly subsidises many areas of life for citizens on low income and should be applauded for that. However, there are also many areas where this is not occurring or the decision has been transferred to local government jurisdiction. Such areas omitted include the subsidising of household energy bills and landline phone services - essential to the welfare of people in this modern age, I am sure assembly members would agree. Therefore, we wish to propose levying a tax on the sale of luxury goods to help generate money to afford these subsidies and to bring the decision-making process surrounding them back under the remit of national government. If this passes I would then ask this House to look at legislation to use the extra monies raised to make available these subsidies in the aforementioned vital areas as well as several more. This is clearly necessary to protect the most vulnerable in society and to better distribute the economic wealth of our nation for the betterment of everyone. Zlatan Temelkido Finance Minister |
