Voting deadline: May 4359

Description[?]:

Would like to introduce the 'American system'.

There are 2 political parties and each of us play a faction within those two parties:

For example:

Party A: Center-left -centrists
People can play in there as;
Liberals
Social Democrates
Establishment
Left Populists
Centrists
Religious-left
Union Intrests

Party B: Centre-right-right wing:
people could play there as;
Centrists
Establishment
Right-wing populists
Religious-right
Big Business interest

We could change President in Head of State and Government. The two parties could for example hold primeries for Presidential elections play internal conflicts ...

Just my thoughts to make things more interesting and keeping Istalia alive and make forming governments much more easy!

MessageHmm, this is interesting however this was almost impossible before when we had no left parties. Also, we have a political system like in Germany (ironically the situation of political impasse is a mirror image of it rn) and it keeps things real. Finally, there are too many differences which would complicate gameplay and make compromise coalitions, like LP-PNI before impossoble to achieve.

We could however form transpartisan groups following your example which would work together, but this has kinda already happened naturally.

MessageI have to say that such a system can work with a x sure number of party, more or less balanced and such a system rely strongly on the players. The two recent elections saw something like 5 parties which then deseappeared suddenly.
One episode such this when enforcing this system and all it would be paralized or broken. And, we cannot obblige the parties to play only as a "caucus" of a two party system. We have also to think that this is a game where players come and go very easily and are quite free to act whatever they want (only the cultural protocols and some RP law can be enforced, such a system would be not enforceable).

I have perplexity for this. Look at the electoral law "honoris". It's years that it is ignored because there were difficulties to form coalitions like during the 4100's

MessageI'd have to agree with Mr I want to murder myself. We could try to organize the groups (I've tried to do that like four times now, subliminally, with all the official opposition, official shadow cabinet stuff).

MessageShinitai means I want to kill, or rather murder myself in Japanese. At least that's what Filthy Frank said.

MessageI think something similar could be achieved with stronger electoral coalitions. It is my understanding that before I came along to Istalia, there were coalitions that set out ahead of time what they would try and do and who they would back for President of the Republic. I would be opposed to moving to a 2 party system - the multiparty aspect is what makes the game so much fun for me as an American - but solidifying coalitions may work.

MessageWith a shadow cabinet like ULD proposed, so that after an election we wouldnt lose much time to install new cabinets (if all parties are active within the alliance) therefore i think we should give the nationmaster back the authority to ask for deactivation after 48hours of inactivity.

MessageThe party coalitions are possible. They worked very well. If you go back to see the history between 4150 and 4200 you can see that the two coalitions system worked for half a century and was quite stable, with sostantially two presidential candidate in each elections and a tendency to a stable alternance.
But, I have to say that, as mentioned by PNI, seems that there is a lack of leftist party... And I don't understand why the last ones appeared had so brief life... :P

    Random fact: When your party holds the foreign affairs department, you can create new treaties. However, before writing anything new, it is a good idea to search for existing treaties which already accomplish what you desire.

    Random quote: "A democracy that does not allow limits is not a democracy. Just as a limitless freedom is not freedom, but prevarication. Indeed, any theory of freedom worthy of this name is first of all a limit theory. If we extend the unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not willing to defend a tolerant society against the attacks of the intolerants, then the tolerants will be destroyed and the tolerance with them! Because, I ask to myself and ask you, given a certain system that we call democratic, which is today the best possible system to allow everyone to live freely and to be able to express their own thoughts, how can the same system admit attacks against its integrity? How can a system refuse the principle of the self-preservation? For this reason, to suppress the apologetics of thalerrism, it's for this reason that the exaltation of exegetes, principles, facts or methods of Thallerism and its anti-democratic aims does not constitute a violation of the freedom of manifestation of thought, but, on the contrary, the celebration of that freedom. The protection of the first premise on which a modern democratic system is based. And this premise must be safeguarded also and above all against itself and its abuses." ~ Malik Astori, Leadership of Liberty and Progress (Istalia)
