Message | ROUND 1 RESULTS: Jones - 27% Rosales - 30% Rossi - 29% Bernstein - 14% Rosales narrowly came in first place, beating out Jones and Rossi. Rosales ran on a left-wing platform emphasizing higher taxes on the rich, government regulations on working hours, and increased funding for education. Jones fell to third place after an underwhelming campaign in which she called for lower corporate taxes and the abolition of closed shops, which alienated a large portion of the base, most of whom want increased union membership (many members are in unions themselves) and a higher corporate tax rate. Rossi emphasized her economic policy knowledge in this campaign and came in second place. Bernstein, who ran a campaign based on environmental protection and economic came in last place at 14%. Message | ROUND 2 RESULTS: Jones - 29% Rosales - 38% Rossi - 33% Rosales comes in 1st place with 38% of the vote and a 5 point lead over his main challenger, Arianna Rossi. His poll numbers were boosted after Bernstein declared his support for Rosales and urged his supporters to support him. Rossi came in 2nd place after she successfully convinced Labour moderates to support her instead of Jones. Jones suffered a humiliating defeat after failing to rally support behind her and ending up in 3rd place. She has conceded the race and has declared her support for Rossi. JONES ELIMINATED FROM LEADERSHIP CONTEST |

Message | ROUND 3 RESULTS: Rosales - 56% Rossi - 44% Rosales wins the leadership election with 56% of the vote to Rossi's 44%. Despite Jones's endorsement of Rossi which lended her a brief lead in the polls, Rosales ultimately came out on top after the National Steelworkers' Union, a generally moderate trade union, pledged their support for him, calling him a "voice of hope" and a "champion for progressive values". Rossi came in 2nd place, after running a centrist campaign based on economic stability and lower taxes. The pundits suggested that she failed to tackle bigger issues like immigration and trade. Rossi conceded the leadership race to Rosales. Rosales announced that while Rossi lost the race, she has "good policy experience" and announced that she would become the Labour Party's finance spokesperson. ROSALES WINS LEADERSHIP CONTEST |
