Bill: Call for early elections, March 4338

Details

Submitted by[?]: Knstatak Lofrkadé Prta

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: November 4338

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker,

The decision by this Government to arbitrarily extend their term in office is one of a denial of democracy, hatred for the Jelbic people's voice and equally a demonstration of their weakness and cowardice. They fear the consequences of allowing the public to be given a choice over the future of this country because they know if put to a vote they would not be part of it - so still they deny the public their right as citizens of this country to have a meaningful vote on who should lead - extending it to the latest possible deadline so they dont have to face up to the consequences of losing. Mr Speaker the Jelbic people deserve better, better than this dictatorship of the few who constrain rights and strangle our people's voices, better than these cowards who hide behind the walls of Parliament when their people demand a vote and better than these very same scoundrels who only got into power in the first place because nobody dared stick around to say no.

That is why i urge them to support new elections Mr Speaker, to allow the Jelbic people to decide over who is best suited to decide their future, to allow members in this parliament and from outside it challenge their decisions and views - for if they are unwilling to do that today, imagine how weak they will be in two years. Vote for the elections, you know the Jelbic people deserve it.

((OOC: The fact you've manually extended the deadline to the maximum possible is hilariously petty and almost a joke - you literally only introduced that change because i signed in again and you dont want to have an election you might lose. It's mildly insulting and very unsportsmanly, the respectful and good mannered thing to do would be allow both of us to enjoy the game by supporting new elections so that i can at least take part. I will not be going away so you may as well get this over and done with, imagine if you were in the position i am in now and what extending the vote deadline would look like to you; a clear message that you dont want to be included. Support the new elections; it would be deeply unfair and selfish not to.))

MessageFine, we can have early elections you will lose, though, and I will not support another one.

MessageFine by me! I'm willing to hedge that bet - and as i said, it's not about losing or winning, it's about me even getting seats in the first place.

Random fact: The influence a bill has on elections decreases over time, until it eventually is no longer relevant. This can explain shifts in your party's position to the electorate and your visibility.
