Description[?]:
ACKNOWLEDGING the need of every nation to maintain a capable, well-staffed, battle-ready Defense Force; RECOGNIZING that the Beiteynu Department of Defense (DoD) is the primary military body in Beiteynu; CONCERNED that currently the military is entirely comprised of private paramilitary groups, which are neither accountable to the DoD or to the People in general; CONCERNED that this lack of accountability will easily lead to rivalries and power struggles within the military, potentially to the detriment of the People of Beiteynu; DESIRING to re-establish DoD control over the military, and to return accountability for defense largely to the People of Beiteynu and their Government; We hereby introduce the following legislation... |

Message | I hereby express my party's opposition to this bill and shall therefore vote against it as such for the existence of a standing army in peacetime is a affront to the liberties of a free people. Furthermore defense should be left in the hands of a free market not the state. |

Message | Yarok agrees with nationalizing the military and defense industries, but we do not agree with a national service, we will abstain if a version of this bill with a national service goes to the Knesset. |

Message | From the sound of it, it seems like the main obstacle is the mandatory service clause. Without that portion, how do your parties feel about this legislation? |

Message | Also, we've made changes that would allow for the creation of a reserve military, which should quell your concerns about a peacetime standing army. Reserves are part timers by necessity, and their service entirely depends on their willingness to enlist/volunteer. Regarding the "free market"... While the defense industry (the arms trade, vehicle manufacturing, etc.) should remain unregulated, the military itself must remain accountable to the people of the nation. Without this, any paramilitary group with significant funding (even foreign funding) could have complete control over our populace. That is not desirable, under any stretch of the imagination. We at Haaretz appreciate your concern for the free market, but when the choice is between the freedom of the market and the freedom of the people of Beiteynu, we choose the latter. Every time. |

Message | So be it. We will submit the version of the bill that best suits our People's interests, with or without your support. (OOC: Are you sure about this? The only countries IRL that are run by paramilitary organizations are war-torn, borderline-terroristic states... Places like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.) |

Message | Hello, new party on the block here. My party's stance on this is, that while we do support small government in general; one of the things that we do believe falls under government purview is protection of the people against violence from an outside force. The version of the bill at the time of this messages' writing has our support. |

Random fact: Don't vote yes on a cabinet coalition that doesn't give you the power that you deserve. |
