Message | the government should not attempt to indoctrinate students by [badly] operating educational establishments. we would be willing to discuss state funding of education in the form of direct payments of grants or loans to students, but we will not countenance the state operating or directly funding establishments themselves. |

Message | The state should take on the responsibility of making Trigunia into a knowledge state where knowledge is one of the most important virtues required in order to become employed. Thus, the state should fund all tertiary education so that we can achieve such a goal. |

Message | "The state should take on the responsibility of making Trigunia into a knowledge state where knowledge is one of the most important virtues required in order to become employed. Thus, the state should fund all tertiary education so that we can achieve such a goal." Where do you come up with this fiction? While Europe spends its time waffling about becoming a 'knowledge economy' while trying (badly) to run education. The US gets on with actually BEING a knowledge economy, with 17 of the 20 best universities in the world despite not using the state to run the education system. Either you want a successful knowledge economy, in which case, let the universities run and fund themselves; or you want a cosy but backward welfare state where you get to run and fund the universities, but don't deceive yourself into thinking you can have both. |
