MessagePCP introduced this bill with the intention to vote in favor, but some in party leadership are now reconsidering. We wish to hear what the other parties think about this proposal.

We believe that restricting the production/consumption of consensual hardcore/violent pornography itself is a violation of freedom of expression/choice, but we also believe that government has a long history across many societies of regulating radio waves to ensure basic decency in the material presented on widely accessible broadcast television and radio formats. Violent pornography has been been proven by academics to normalize violence against women, rewire the male brain, and increase partnership abuse. It clearly produces some extent of harm and no benefit to society. It may be within our rights and interests as a government to keep this type of material accessible through other mediums only.
