Bill: Freedom to Fire Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Kadima Beiteynu
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 4351
Description[?]:
In this nation, employees have the right to go on strike and demand a renegotiation of their employment contract. In the name of fairness, employers must be given the right to hire new employees in the event of a strike. The government has no right to destroy the business of a hard working business owner by forbidding them to hire new employees. There are unemployed people in this nation looking for work, who is the government to prevent them from being hired by a business owner whose employees went on strike? In many cases, the business goes under because they have no employees, then the striking employees, the people who would've been hired as replacements, and the former business owner are ALL out of work. |

Message | Employers can already fire workers who strike. It's dependant on the workers to provide adequate reason for striking, and under the current system workers may appeal to the courts if they believe they were wrongfully terminated (they provided a sufficient reason to strike, but were fired anyways). With your proposal, any strike would immediately be broken, and the workers would have no way to appeal that decision. Under its current state, we will vote no. |
