Message | President Ersilia Rodríguez feels the need to commercialize government agricultural subsidies by subsidising market demand operations by collective farming entities. The current law of government having to subsidies every family labelled as "low income" won't really do much for the people because some may end up using government funds on crops they won't be able to sell. Message | With this bill, APP has endorsed a policy that will lead to the closure of thousands of family farms across our country. Small farming families face immense challenges from a changing global economy, and this bill will effectively kill their way of life. Changing the award of subsidies in this manner will inevitably lead to the subsidization of agriculture giants that already have immense advantages over small family farms. The only way to preserve rural communities in our country is subsidize low-income farming families and not big agriculture. Juan Pablo Cabal Parliamentary Spokesperson |
