Message | In terms of voting, running for/serving in public office, it would be a matter of national security. Voting and public service determine the affairs of the people of Beiteynu; if someone is loyal to a foreign power as well, they could easily abuse their dual status to negatively impact Beiteynu politics. If we had a representative, say, that was also a citizen of another country, they could effectively act as a double agent. (OOC: This is one area where Particracy isn't specific enough for what I intended. I really want a system where elected officials have to declare their foreign ties/citizenships to hold office, but there's no option for that :P) |

Random quote: "We must show that liberty is not merely one particular value but that it is the source and condition of most moral values. What a free society offers to the individual is much more than what he would be able to do if only he were free. We can therefore not fully appreciate the value of freedom until we know how a society of free men as a whole differs from one in which unfreedom prevails." - Friedrich August Hayek |
