Bill: Environmental Reform and Localisation Plan - 4353
Details
Submitted by[?]: Zhtál-Merlkai Tjarziprta
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 4354
Description[?]:
This is a slightly amended version of a bill we tried to push through four years ago during the last term of government. Again, we would like to test the water on it given the rise in the number of new parties over the last few years. Firstly, it is our belief that the protection of the environment and administration of key services such as recycling, waste disposal and forest management should be handled at the local government level, wherever possible, in order to tailor solutions to immediate situations. Secondly, on a global scale, the use of chemical, biological and nuclear weaponry and power is a polluting menace. We should not only desist in providing tax relief and subsidies for nuclear power research but also take a stance against developing biological, chemical and nuclear weaponry too. Vanuku has a sufficiently powerful conventional military - we do not need such weaponry to project our presence further. Gus De Smet Republican Party Leader |

Message | *and article 1 |

Message | While we agree that tasks such as recycling and land management should be taken at a local level, we do not believe that article 1, 3 and 5, are beneficial for the country. Vanuku needs weapons of mass destructions in order to deter potential threats, and as a diplomatic tool. If a new bill with these three articles removed were to be voted upon again, we would strongly support it. |

Message | The Republic Party Leader said he would take our feedback into consideration, yet did not. This bill was a was a waste of the Grand Council's time. Why open up to debate when the points and issues raised are ignored? |
