Voting deadline: May 4359
Description[?]:
An act to remove discrimination against arranged marriages and the traditional Barmenian marital culture. In spite of some radical secular rhetoric, arranged marriages are more functional and more stable than autonomous marriages, as they remove the anxiety inherent in the process of searching for a spouse and allow families and friends to provide an independent and more experienced perspective on the suitability of the selected spouse. Arranged marriages should not be discredited because of a false understanding of modernity. Research indicates that in addition to selecting and screening the potential spouse, family also offers financial and emotional support for the couple, providing a valuable service that the modern state is unable to offer. For that reason we call for Barmenistan's withdrawal from the radical secularist Treaty for the Recognition of the Equality of Sexualities, Sexual Identities, Gender Identities, Marriages and a Recognition of the Freedom of Sexual Acts.
