Voting deadline: January 2197

The Republic of Likatonia we feel has a rather sterile ring about it. We propose changing the name to something more descriptive. We therefore propose changing the name of our country to to "The Free Republic of Likatonia". |

Message | So other Republics aren't free? Adding pointless words is meaningless, and they are usually added to cover up a regime that is the opposite of its title. |

Message | Adding 1 word doesn't change the nation's image. Words can be descriptors or merely pretty tags we attach to the front of another word to make it prettier. By calling us the 'Free Republic of Likatonia', all you're doing is just adding a window dressing. If you truly wanted to make a progressive title, you could do far better. Adding 'free' in front of republic, doesn't automatically make a nation a free republic. |

Message | Are other republics not democratic then? |

Message | We fail to see the relevance of this question. Are you stating that we are so repressed we need to affix the word 'free' to our national title, or are you objecting to us reflecting the true nature of our republic in the long form title of our nation? |

Message | Are things in this country so perfest that this august body has nothing better to do with its valuable time than debate nomenclature? We, for one, think not! Get on with it so we may return to the true issues of the day. |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
