Bill: P.d.l. 4/4364: The Fundaments of Democracy

Details

Submitted by[?]: Nuova Unione

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 4367

Description[?]:

Grimaldo Simonette, ULD Chairperson and Prime Minister

My party would like to present you this bill an effort to take our nation even deeper into democracy and assure it's dominance, how will these steps achieve it? Well, we propose, first of all, an article which will decrease the number of MPs to 155, a fair number. First of all, it will force parties to send their best candidates for each seat, and it would be, importantly, less expensive. It will also cut all the bureaucratic nonsense present during elections.

We also propose shortening the Parliamentary terms to three years, a fair enough amount of time which will both prove to be dynamic, but it will also assure that the In-the-moment needs of the nation will be presented way better.

The payments; worry not, the decrease of the number of MPs will assure that it will result in lower expenses. But, why do we want to raise the pays of the parliamentarians? Well, because the current system is terrible, that's why. it covers all of the costs of the MPs linked to their office, but their life is left uncared of; it means that actual, nonpartisan specialists fear to enter politics and that it is dominated by people strongly dependant on other sources, which means that those very sources have a better starting position in lobbying than if that wouldn't be the case; poor politicians are also way more potent to corruption than the rich.

We hope that you will consider this effort, and vote in favour.
Thank you.

Without the wage increase for parliamentarians, we would have agreed, but we cannot support waste of tax money.

MessagePietro Monteverde, PLI Whip,
Mr.Speaker,
time ago we proposed the creation of a salary for parliamentarians, but our proposal did not provide for a high but average salary, like the tax payers who pay them these wages. The ULD voted against our proposal.
We are also against with the 2nd and 3rd article.
