Description[?]:
Worker Cooperatives (a company run by everyone who works in it) currently has no legal value and in some cases aren’t considered companies, I prepose a legal definition to be made and to alter the tax code to increase taxes on normal corporations but give tax benefits to cooperatives, since they have been shown to be more efficient, productive, safeguard workers rights, benifit their communities, and make more citizens politically active. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, This proposal lacks numerical information for tax increases and decreases. It also contains false information by implying cooperatives are not recognized or have any legal basis. The Hutorian government currently "encourages the formation of Democratic Workers' Councils through subsidies and tax exemptions". The definition of a worker cooperative is pretty clear: a business owned and managed by its workers through democratic means ("one man, one vote") rather than being owned by a single individual or an oligarchy of shareholders. - Lyn Kopp Ambassador of the Ataraxian Confederation |
