| Recognizing that under current law abortions are only legal in the first trimester of a pregnancy, and seeing as women should have the option to seek an abortion in the second trimester if they find that their fetus suffers a fatal anomaly or otherwise has a condition that will make its quality of life untenable or harm the mother, this bill would expand when a woman can get an abortion to the first and second trimester. |

| Message | NOTE: Although abortions are most common in the first trimester of an abortion, second trimester abortion also sometimes happen. Most of the time these abortion aren't about terminating an unwanted child, but are about medical issues with said child. Most pregnancies that last into the second trimester are desired by the woman, however it is around this time that many woman find out about medical anomalies with their fetuses, anomalies that can either harm the woman, cause the baby to live only a few weeks or months once out of the womb, or give the baby life-long defects that would severely hamper their lives. This isn't about a woman making a dumb choice and getting pregnant, it is about women realizing that their child's short life will be miserable and not wanting to endure that pain or force the baby to live a miserable life. |
