Bill: National Sales Tax Necessity Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Whig Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 4370

Description[?]:

The Commonwealth continues year after year to run a national deficit. In the early 4360's we attempted to remedy this situation by raising taxes and decreasing spending. The Social Democrats then pushed to raise taxes further on top earners and increased spending with the support of the DSPR and CRL.

We cannot once again raise taxes on the Rutanian People, nor do we believe the Budget has room for significant cuts to any of the Ministries. Our Luxury goods tax is already extraordinarily high. We see one solution to ensure we are building a sound fiscal future for Rutania's next generation. We propose enacting a National Sales tax of 7% or 7 cents on the Ruta. Such a tax will allow us to properly fund our government.
