Description[?]:
OOC: This bill is not an attack on anyone who helped shape istalia as it is now, just thought that it might make things a little more interesting ;) Mr Speaker, Thank you for giving us the time to have this debate. First of all, I would like to state that the nation of Istalia has always been a nation of great power. Power that is used on its fellow allies and enemies, but also power to create peace and stability in the world. The same power has always been in the hands of the people of Istalia, and we believe it should always be this way. Even further, we would like to see Istalia turn into a presidential republic in the long run. Allow me to explain why. To begin with, the position of a president acquires way more status and prestige than the current confusing vague duties of the Head of State and the Head of Government, which I shall abbreviate as HoS and HoG. An HoS that serves as a guard of the constitution as well as leader of the cabinet will be more of a political heavyweight in both Istalia and abroad. Second, the unification of the HoS and HoG gives us the opportunity to skip a lot -understatement- of paperwork. The entire administration of the HoG and its costs can be used elsewhere, such as, for example, help support our pensioned who are struggling with getting their bills paid with the minimal budget they have. Also, decisions made by a President can be put into action way more quicker, since the person in between is practically gone. At last I would like to add that every HoS is elected with the majority of the voters behind him/her. Every elected HoS is therewith a fully directly elected president so has the ideal mandate to govern. At the moment, this position as voice of the people and supreme elected official is not being used to its fullest extent. I would like any party who wish to debate or support us to do so in this debate. Thank you. - Maurizio de Fiore, Lega dei Cittadini Party Leader |

What will be the President when forced to appoint a Council of Ministers formed by exponents of opposite parties? How will he can lead the nation and the government in such conditions? The Government would be blocked! Or would work against the President maybe! Due to the political fragmentation in Istalia this is a situation which can happen very often." |
