MessageI'm kinda running out of military bills to pass. While that is good (that means my ideas for Luthori's military are coming to pass), this is kinda bad for me (how else am I supposed to get seats?)

MessageThe only problems we have with article II are as follows:

I. We believe in a highly trained professional volunteer army.
II. We believe volunteering for Imperial service is essential for screening out citizens.

The current law on citizenship still requires the 'test' to be taken after a period of Imperial service. how do you propose this is amended?

MessageI'm not sure. However, in times of war, we don't have the luxury of caring who WANTS to fight or not. What we have is the NECESITY of defending ourselves from foreign agressors. Now, it's not as if EVERY time we go to war there is a draft, but whenever the Joint Chiefs deem it necessary, then there must be one, for the sake of Luthori's continuing existance.

MessageWe have nuclear, biological and chemical weaponry for that: no need for an unprofessional consript army.

MessageArticle 1 ruins this for me. We'd vote yes on Article 2 by itself.

MessageIt seems to me that the current arrangement is perfectly satisfactory. Owning the whole industry would be unnecessary, provided the government has majority shareholds in the independant defence companies.

MessageBy not supporting this bill, you show that you would rather that businessmen make a profit then we firmly control our defences. The state is greater than all of us combined, including the artsy-fartsy businessmen and aristocrats that control our nation. Why do you keep them in power, keeping down the state?

MessageI can't speak for the other parties hehe, but the SPP believes in government power only insofar as it is necessary to protect civil rights of the citizens. We do not believe that the State has any other purpose. So we should have a military to protect our liberty, but the government owning everything doesn't help in our view. Businessmen don't control the nation, but they should control business.

MessageExactly! The job of government is to uphold justice and order - nothing else, in my opinion. For defending our borders we have diplomacy first. Armies come second fiddle.
