MessageThe Reason disagrees. Private initiative has proved to be the best solution, in providing healthcare to the same extent as in any other industry.

MessageComrades, "The Reason" are wrong on a number of counts. Empirically, healthcare systems work most efficiently where they are predominantly or wholly state-owned and run, and where they are mostly or completely subsidised. This rids the industry of the need for costs related to advertising, the selling of insurance, the processing of payments, the enforcement of penalties for non-payment, lengthy and complex court cases on the coverage of policies, etc. A unified national health service also has greater power to negotiate the prices it pays for pharmaceuticals and wages and salaries for staff.

From the patient's point of view, of course, we can also do away with the financial burden, and the stress and anxiety that goes along with that. Plus the patient will not have a reason to forgo vital treatment simply because they cannot afford it. Then of course there are the benefits of a co-ordinated approach to public health, for example vaccination, etc. We back this bill.

MessageIn a proposed system health care is paid by people who do not need it and that would place a too great burden on tax paying people.
And there are plenty of examples that prove that state-sponsored universal health care system is not cost-effective and is not able to provide adequate salary to both medical and supportive staff.

In a system we currently have, people with low income get their treatment paid by the state, so your argument that people wouldn't receive the treatment they need just because they can't afford it is not valid.

Everyone needs healthcare at some point. And in any case, in countries with socialised healthcare, healthcare is less per head, with better outcomes.

"And there are plenty of examples that prove that state-sponsored universal health care system is not cost-effective and is not able to provide adequate salary to both medical and supportive staff."

There are no such examples in the developed world.

Random fact: Don't put "the" as the first word in your party name, because when parties are referred to in news reports, their names are preceded with "the", e.g. the [Socialist Party] has lost.
