Bill: Lex Caecia de Praeconiis Mercatoriis
Details
Submitted by[?]: Factio Republicana Socialistica
Status[?]: defeated

Voting deadline: January 4381
Description[?]:
Caecian Law on Advertising Senators, The hyper-commercialization of Selucian culture has turned the Republic from a society of citizens to a society of consumers. Most Selucians resent and detest the incessant visual pollution and resource waste caused by excessive advertising, and yet this has received limited if any attention from our body politic. It is time for us to put an end to this corrosion of public trust in our economy, ending the intellectual prostitution of men and women who lend their skills for causes they do not believe in, and abolishing the perverse alienation from all genuine human needs and wants that advertising has created. Should this bill pass the Senate will ban all forms of advertising, including billboards, television ads, advertising emails, corporate sponsorship, fliers and leaflets, pop-up ads, product placement, and native advertising, with the exception of publicly-funded political campaigns, which are to be strictly regulated. We believe that with this measure the multi-billion Nikan advertising industry will be brought to an end and companies will instead use their revenue on making better products, ending consumerism and ensuring an informed and active citizenry. Robertus Caecius Senator |
