Message | Mr Speaker, Corporations will compete for the best employees and skilled labour will of course be worth more than unskilled work which may pay less, but businesses are not about to start offering menial pay just because they are not required to set a minimum. Message | Mr. Speaker, If the government does not ensure that workers are receiving a livable wage, then it is bound to become a culture of poverty, contrasted with a small percentage of people making up a rich elite. Now that corporate tax has been abolished, we are all the more dependent on income tax to fund our budget, and if workers are making less taxable income on average with corporations reaping the monetary gains, then it is a lose-lose for us, because we will experience the loss of income tax revenue and will not receive any benefit from the increased corporate money flow. Message | Mr. Speaker, While we agree that our current minimum wage laws are not the best policy we cannot agree with the administration's view that abolishing the minimum wage will initiate a meritocracy, the minimum wage should be set at a level that one can survive, not necessarily well above the poverty line but without a minimum wage the people of the empire will be made to suffer while the rich get richer off their hard work. Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play. |
