Message | Mr Speaker, May I ask that my colleagues in the USH and NLP elaborate on their concerns? As current legislation stands, a 16-year-old who wishes to seek a part-time job on the weekend must only deal with employers willing to break the law. We of the GLP recognise that there is a vast difference between the realities of 10-year-olds exploited by unethical factories, and high-schoolers undertaking paid vocational training to secure their futures. Our law presently treats these as one and the same, and must be updated to reflect the reality. Beau Marlowe Green Left Spokesperson for Education and Culture |

Message | Mr Speaker, I think the concerns that everyone has with this bill is that without laying out what regulations there will be, companies will be able to exploit children. Before going forward with this bill the conservative party suggests outlining in the bill description what the regulations will be. We suggest that they be that a person aged 14 may work in a family business, a person aged 15 may work at any business with written permission from their parents, and persons aged 16 and older may work for any business. Message | Mr Speaker, We agree with my Mr. Rosseau that the bill will require further amendment to secure the protections intended in the spirit of the bill. (OOC quick question: in Hutori do we call the portfolios of Cabinet ministers "Ministries", "Departments", or something else?) |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
