Bill: Odd Number of Electoral Seats In Elections (ONESIE) Act of 4389

Details

Submitted by[?]: New Liberal Party of Hutori

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 4389

Description[?]:

Now that we have amended the Constitution to bring our number of seats down to 400, it is time that we fix the fact that we have no mechanism for a tie-breaker. This bill does just that - increases the number of seats from 400 to 405, ensuring a way to break ties in Parliamentary votes.

MessageMr Speaker,

The New Liberals are tremendously thankful to our friends in the Reform Party, Ultrackian Socialists, Royal Conservatives, Monarchists, and especially the New National Progressives for helping to pass Electoral Reform that will change our country for the better. We now ask this grand coalition to help take Hutori across the finish line, as we fix a mistake in the Electoral Reform Bill of 4388 (ERB4388).

As NNPP MP Todd Stevens pointed out in the Debate for the Electoral Reform Bill of 4388 (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=567444), our new Parliament will have 400 members, allowing for the possibility of ties. The honourable gentlemen suggested that the number be increased to 405. Due to parliamentary procedure, The New Liberals could not amend the bill at the time; but I personally promised that once ERB4388 passed, we would introduce a bill to increase the number of MPs to 405. The New Liberals try as best as we can to keep to our word. Consider the ONESIE Act a promise kept!

MP for Sutton East
Leader of the New Liberals

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.
