MessageMr. Speaker,

I rise to ask this house if it would support the RUFF Act, a bill to reduce pet regulation. Currently all pet owners must register their pets with local governments. This puts an undue burden on both pet owners and local governments! What good does registration of fifi and fido do? It doesn't stop people from breaking laws against ownership of exotic animals - do we truly think that someone who owns an ocelot or rhino would register that animal? Let us rid ourselves of this silly regulation. When the going gets tough, vote RUFF!

MessageMr. Speaker,

We are shocked that our Royalist friends are voting in favour of regulation! It seems a bit "off-brand." Mr. Speaker, I would love to know why the Conservatives have decided that every pet owner should register that pet with the government! Is that not a gross intrusion into personal property rights?
