Message | Mr. Speaker, With the permission of this House, I rise to introduce the "Triple-A" Act of 4389, also known as the Affirmative Action Adjustment Act. Currently, the government sets compulsory quotas for all hiring - including the private and non-profit sectors. We propose that the government eliminate quotas. Instead the government will practice affirmative action in its own hiring, and incentivize others to do the same. We hope our friends and colleagues will consider voting for this bill, which will make hiring easier for our private businesses and non-profit organizations. Message | Mr. Speaker, We are concerned that a "downgrade" from requirement to mere encouragement to hire the less franchised is a quiet signal toward an end of commitment to equality. This bill reads intentionally vague language without specifying what incentives the government will practice toward equality-led hiring in the private sector. In practice, I fail to see how this bill can lead to any other outcome than a return to the old standard of Luthori Men's Club hiring practices. Message | Mr Speaker, I must completely disagree with the honourable member from the Green Left Party. The Royalist Party believes that positive discrimination is most definitely not positive, and is actually detrimental in the fight for equality. By hiring certain groups of people for the sake of hiring them, instead of hiring them for the skills that they bring to the table, we end up making them feel less valuable. It tells these groups that we don't actually care what they bring to the table, but we are just going to stick them in a job to fill a quota. We fully support this bill, but do not think that it actually goes far enough. In the future this party will work to completely outlaw any form of "positive" discrimination. Random fact: Don't put "the" as the first word in your party name, because when parties are referred to in news reports, their names are preceded with "the", e.g. the [Socialist Party] has lost. |
