MessageMr Speaker, Although the opposition may say that this bill would be too expensive, I would like to remind them, that thanks to the actions of this government the nation of Hutori now has a surplus exceeding 45 billion Lira, we can more than afford this

MessageMr Speaker,

I would argue that we still do not have a surplus as departments are still severely underfunded and this government has not passed a new budget to adress it. The Royalist Party will not support this bill.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Point of Clarification: We would like to mention that the budget surplus is, in fact, 48,513,627,207 HLR at this time. While the New Liberals would like to change our budget priorities by decreasing spending in many areas, we are pleased that tax increases have increased the solvency of the National budget.

We ask our friends in this house to look at the current state of the budget before voting on any spending: http://classic.particracy.net/budget.php?nationid=15

MessageMr Speaker,

I would point to the Auditor General's report where she outlined how much we would need to spend in each department to maintain current government services. Unfortunately we no longer have that doccument available to table in this house but what it said was that the total budget would be approximately 595 Billion Lira. We currently spend 508 Billion which means to keep everything running at a minimum, we are actually spending 87 Billion Lira more than budgeted and are actually facing a deficit just shy of 40 Billion Lira.

Now once Bill R-1 passes, we will be saving some money, if I had to make my best guess, we would save somewhere around 8-10 Billion Lira. Even still we will be facing a deficit of at least 30 Billion Lira. This government needs to continue to find ways to reduce spending to below 556 Billion Lira and bring Hutori back to a legitimate surplus.

I will table the Auditor General's final report for the viewing of this house.
