Message | You don't understand what competitive subcontracting is. The government decides which areas are covered, how many firefighters there are, and how many firefighters are where. The government also pays the firefighters. The government just hires firefighters from fireghfighting groups who compete to do the job most efficiently; or have their contract given to someone else. It is far more efficient than making more government employees. |

Message | Competitive subcontracting of a vital public service is a recipe for disaster, poor coverage, cheap-skating, and cutting corners. Only with a national fire department can we ensure that firefighting is done with the motivation of public service, rather than a profit margin. |
