Bill: Income tax proposal of March 4394
Details
Submitted by[?]: Factio Liberalis
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 4394
Description[?]:
The Factio Liberalis propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Unionis Kundrati. We intend on cutting taxes for the poor and lower middle class, as the current administration has raised taxes on them and this is unacceptable. The poor do not deserve such an unusually high tax burden. |

Message | The current tax brackets for those at the bottom are low enough and we have proposed an even more progressive system in our tax reforms. Cutting taxes means cutting public services and that would mean a poorer nation. |

Message | Wrong; we can just run a deficit this is basic Kodonomics. Also I agree that they were low enough, you guys raised them to the point where even the poorest give at least 10% of their income to the government, instead of the 2 or 3% that they were earlier. Fine, the wealthy can pay a higher rate, but that doesn't mean the poorest and most vulnerable should do so as well. |

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there. |
