Bill: The Taxed Enough Already Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberal Progressives
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 4399
Description[?]:
The Taxed Enough Already (or T.E.A.) Bill is the next Liberal Party initiative to give back to the people what the government is taking from them. Current taxation is excessive and should be lowered. This will increase individual spending by our citizens and invigorate our economy, whilst also giving the people more authority about how to spend their money. Taxes should never function to merely increase the government surplus, which is all they’re doing right now. |

Message | Mr Speaker, Decreasing taxation in general, will give our populace more breathing room every month to spend for themselves. this will promote liability for their own actions and will make people think more about what they need and don't need. This will greatly improve peoples independence and promote active behaviour instead of active behaviour for our working class. I will fully support this bill Sincerely, Marco Rutta, Head of PLP |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The LLP is against decreasing taxation. The current tax rates are necessary to cover the cost of the governments expenses. The LLP fears that such tax rate will only benefit the richest citizens of Lodamun, while the position of the middle class and the poor will be threatend. The LLP wil vote against this bill. Jerome Disselflower, Spokesperson Finance |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The Liberal Party would be inclined to agree with the spokesperson of the LLP, if the current rates of taxation weren't so excessive already. The current tax rates mean that poorer citizens are, for example, practically unable to buy luxury goods, since the prices of those goods are increased both by a ludicrously high tax on corporate profits, meaning corporations need to ask for higher prices for the goods they deliver, as well as by the outrageous 50% tax on luxury goods. This bill would not decrease spending power for poorer households, but increase it massively. David Kennedy, Spokesperson Finance, Liberal Party |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we agree with Labour. Eventhough our taxes are somewhat on the high level, our citizens still can afford to spend a serious amount of money. This tax system even stimulates them to consider well and choose wisely on what they wish to spend their money. As Labour points out, decreasing taxes will make sure we will lack money to invest in our nation, which means that we would have to lower budgets. Such proposal should always be accompagnied by a change in spending, therefore we will oppose to this bill. LNC would like to state that we are very cautious on accepting any change in spending. Aline Wrozny MP for LNC |
Date | 11:42:19, May 25, 2018 CET | From | Ecosocialist Party | To | Debating the The Taxed Enough Already Bill |
Message | Mr. Speaker, In the view of the Ecosocialist Party, taxation is not a punishment but a contribution to your own society and environment. Lowering taxes will automatically lead to less income for the state, and a decrease in maintainance of infrastructure, healthcare and many more. It's an absurd paradox: whilst people will have more money, the quality of living shall be diminished. Nicole Harrington Spokesperson Finance, Ecosocialist Party |
Date | 16:25:33, May 25, 2018 CET | From | Liberal Progressives | To | Debating the The Taxed Enough Already Bill |
Message | Mr. Speaker, The Liberal Progressives have considered all different criticisms of the proposal on the table here and decided that it might be worth it to pass at least some of the tax cuts, if not all of them are attainable. We therefore propose to scrap the tax cut on luxury good, merely reduce the tax percentage for corporate profits to 50% instead of 35% and to cut Sales tax on essential goods to 5%. We would gladly hear the opinion of the Presidium about this changed proposal. David Kennedy, Spokesperson Finance, Liberal Progressives |
Date | 16:47:40, May 25, 2018 CET | From | Lodamun Labour Party | To | Debating the The Taxed Enough Already Bill |
Message | Mr. Speaker, The LLP is still against the proposed plan. The LLP believes that the tax rate is not too high and see's no reason to lower it. Jerome Disselflower, Spokesperson Finance |
Date | 17:22:08, May 25, 2018 CET | From | Progressive Socialist Party | To | Debating the The Taxed Enough Already Bill |
Message | Mr. Speaker With this amended reduction the PSP is willing to support this small tax cut, mostly due to the latter tax cut that is beneficial to everyone. Luuk Voncken PSP Chairman |
Date | 17:27:59, May 25, 2018 CET | From | Grand Nationalist Fraction | To | Debating the The Taxed Enough Already Bill |
Message | Mr. Speaker, we are willing to give this a go, but we would like a projection of the impact on economy. Would that be possible? Aline Wrozny MP for LNC |
Date | 17:38:39, May 25, 2018 CET | From | Liberal Progressives | To | Debating the The Taxed Enough Already Bill |
Message | Mr. Speaker, We can give the LNC a projection of the loss of revenue, which will indeed be slightly exceeding the current revenue surpluss. This would mean that the government would technically temporarily be running a deficit of about 2% of total revenue. However, with the cut in taxes, spending among both civilians and industrial investment, leading to higher profits for corporations will increase. The total gains made from this are hard to project, but estimated to compensate for the loss in revenue. David Kennedy, Spokesperson Finance, Liberal Progressives |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we are willing to trust Mr. Kennedy on this. Aline Wrozny MP for LNC |
Date | 19:55:04, May 25, 2018 CET | From | Lodamese Democratic Progressive Party | To | Debating the The Taxed Enough Already Bill |
Message | Mr. Speaker, This will no doubt put us in a deficit, but the surplus we've accumulated over the decades should be able to cover the temporary deficit as the economy adjusts. We're willing to trust in Mr. Kennedy's projections as well to see if this will work out. If it doesn't work out, we'll have either re-impose the current taxation or adjust our budget accordingly. Dean Atteberry III, Lodamun Minister of Finance |
