Message | We ask the two parties that have voted against this bill, União Conservadora Nacional do Tukarali and União Democrática Tukarese, to reconsider their votes. Most will see their taxes cut, all this while ensuring we keep a budget surplus. Yes, this bill also increases taxes on the rich but just a small minority. In order to achieve a more equal and a fairer society, we need progressive taxation that helps reduce the ridiculous inequalities that have been affecting all the world, whether between people or between countries. It was Bill Gates that said that "the government should require the people in my position to pay significantly higher taxes", so why do we keep insisting on the idea that the rich can't see their taxes risen? It has been proved time after time that cutting their taxes hasn't contributed any good to the countries affected while cutting taxes to those with less money maximizes their purchase power. This bill will be a driver of our economy by increasing purchase power and reducing the tax burden on many, significantly improving their lives. We have a moral duty to those that suffer to pass by. Approving this law is part of that moral duty. Sofia Henriques, Spokeswoman of Partido Socialista do Povo |
