Bill: Axis Mundi Anakrousite Budget proposal of November 2197

Details

Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2198

Description[?]:

The Axis Mundi AAP propose to adjust the government's spending budget to better address the economic and social situation of the Republic of Likatonia.

Having reviewed the budgets of other nations on our continent, we have seen that the Likatonian government has long been vastly over-indulgent in many areas. We aim to 'correct' that, with a new budget proposal.

The observant may note that the Axis Mundi AAP has remained 'over-indulgent' in a few key areas: Defense, Health and Social Services, and Education and Culture. The Anarch Anakrousites are unapologetic about this, we believe that health, education, and a safe nation are core issues.

Even with this spending, the Axis Mundi AAP here recommends a budget that almost halves the prior spending arrangement - something we feel should satisfy the fiscally responsible, as well as the conservative.

MessageAlso, we must object to the slash in Science and Technology funding. Having a technological edge over other nations is vital!

MessageThe 'raise' in the Head of Government office is to cover Advocate expenses. This is not a 'wage increase', it is an expenditure budget increase.

If examined in CONTEXT of the budget, the alteration of the expenditure in the Head of Government office STILL places the budget expenditure for that office at 25% of the next lowest budgeted department.

The AM AAP does not think this unreasonable, when the office is expected to cover many costs for national and international duties, that make the advocate an adjunct of other departments, but without the budgetary resources.

MessageResponse to the other FSP point... it only LOOKS like we might 'lose our edge'. For many years, we have been sending about 20 billion LIK into our science 'industry', and we HAVE achieved marvelous results, no doubt.

However, if one looks at Likatonia's closest neighbour to the East, Lodamun... one can see that they spend only half of what the AM AAP is NOW proposing on science and technology investment.

Likatonian science and technology has long been near the forefront of world technology, but we are working HARD to support that edge, not working SMART. Instead of looking at what has HISTORICALLY been paid for a department, we should review what NEEDS to be spent on that department.

Instead of focussing on individual quibbles, the AM AAP believes we should be looking at an OVERALL budget. Every party can quibble about one area where they disagree with spending... but the OVERALL budget here will cost Likatonia only HALF of the budget in the last term.

The AM AAP believes that SHOULD count for something.

MessageAlthough the foreign ministry budget is slashed we are happy to support this Budget. The foreign affairs ministry is well and truly in a period of reaping dividends from past diplomatic offensives due to consistency over the last couple of elections.
The FSP raises a point of concern for us however we feel the AAP has adequetely addressed this.

MessageLet the AM AAP point out, if this Budget actually turns out to be a problem, we will be FIRST in the line to correct any difficulties.

But, we have compared our budget to some other budgets... and, in many ways, we have been FAR out-spending many other nations... with little to show for that excess, at this point..

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).

Random quote: "Soldiers who are not afraid of guns, bombs, capture, torture or death say they are afraid of homosexuals. Clearly we should not be used as soldiers; we should be used as weapons." - Letter to the editor, the Advocate
