Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: September 2198
Description[?]:
The Axis Mundi AAP propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Republic of Likatonia. In order to grant greater transparency, the AM AAP suggests flat taxation, with three factors which we consider important to moderate the perceived inequality between wage levels. First: The flat tax is recommended at a level a little higher than the previous 'low taxation' level, and noticably lower than the previous 'high taxation' level. Second: We currently run a 'luxury' tax, which we see as helping to restore parity. Normal sales are not affected, but 'luxury' purchases (made predominantly by the more wealthy) are affected. This serves to balance some of the uneven tax-burden-per-available -income-dollar. Third: The most important change, from the point of view of the AM AAP, is the massive lightening of the burden on the proletariat. The previous tax suggestion had wage earners at the 13000 LIK cutoff, paying ALMOST 35% anyway (34% on the 13000+ bracket, 36% on the 14500+ bracket). The AM AAP recommends lightening the tax burden on the poorest Likatonians, and the bulks of the working and middle classes, by moving the lowest taxable bracket all the way up from 7500 LIK, to 12,500 LIK. |

Message | Such a drastic taxation cut and entirely flat... We are uncertain as to how this would help the economy or improve people's lives, especially with the drastic taxation cuts proposed. |

Message | This would help the economy through NOT taxing hardworking working class people below a reasonable level. This would help the economy through NOT taxing disproportionate taxation. Most importantly, maybe, with the paired Budget and Tax reforms suggested, the average Likatonian is going to have to support an average of only about HALF the cost of government... indeed, ALL of Likatonia will save on the predicted government budget. If the AM AAP Budget is passed, we will only need about 72 billion LIK to maintain our budget, which means we can AFFORD to slash taxes. It also means we can afford to protect those at the 'bottom layers', by DRASTICALLY reducing the tax burden on the lowest incomes. From 30%+ on ALL brackets above 7500 LIK.... to 0% on ALL brackets BELOW 12500 LIK. The AM AAP doesn't see how this can NOT 'improve people's lives'. |

Message | We, in the AM AAP, have been trying to work out what is wrong with this budget and tax pairing, that the Progressive Party instantly votes against both, with nary a comment... We find ourselves wondering if it is JUST because the AM AAP opposed previous "Progressive Party" financial legislation...? |

Message | The AM AAP extends gratitude to all who were involved in this process. Special thanks to our allies in the AM PF and AM PSS for their support. |
