Bill: Noblesse Oblige Act of 4404

Details

Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Elitist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 4409

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

The REP finds that the Commonwealth has arrived to a point when old culture wars need to be forgotten, outdated political cleavages need to be burried. Hence we propose a middle-way solution for the question of nobility. We do not wish to alienate the working families of this great Commonwealth with this decision, but we also believe that the sacrifices and grand achievements of the people who led this country through centuries has to be recognised and valued.

We welcome the input of all our colleagues, voting procedure will start in December 4404

MessageMr Speaker,

I understand the strong feelings of our colleagues form the Liberal Party and the Civic Republican League, however, I would ask them to elaborate on their position and put forward proper arguments instead of a simple know. I am more than happy to address their concerns.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I would also like to direct the attention of my honorable colleagues to the recent declarations of Ms. Sylvia Hinter-Vandermark to the Rutanian News Network. I quote: "We know that the modern times are believed to be hostile to the nobility, but we will defy the expectations", declared Ms. Hinter-Vandermark. According to her the descendants of the Rutanian nobility do not want new titles, do not want lands or money, their only wish is to be able to use the titles of their forefathers, and to be able to share with the people of Rutania all the knowledge, expertise and moral standing they have accumulated throughout the centuries." http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=91&start=690#p134636

MessageIf something is illegal, and there is no point in instituting nobility, than there is no point in this bill. The relatives of the nobility are such a minority, and family lore is not illegal, so there is also no point in instituting official titles.

OOC: We don't roleplay like that in Rutania anymore, and most of us are not interested. We keep up with our party lore, update the military if we control the title, and sometimes do political news. Other than that, we simply don't dedicate the time to a game soon to be outphased.

MessageWe support the creation of nobility, as long as the support the core values of Rutania. We are mixed on Article II. Nevertheless, we plan to vote YES.
