Description[?]:
This is a little ridiculous. Condoms cost 25 cents at gas stations. This just not a responsibility of the government. Adult citizens are not babies or mindless sheep, and they don't need a nanny state. If you and your partner collectively can't afford a 25-cent condom, abstinence is a viable option until you get the cents together. We aren't wild animals, we can control ourselves. Condoms are not a human right nor are they necessary for life, nor are expensive in any way, shape, or form. Even homeless people have a few bucks on them, who is this policy for? I think abstinence until marriage would be a good idea for people who can afford 25-cent contraceptives, so why can't people (who might not exist) without 25-cents collectively be abstinent? They don't have to though, any two people can find a way to get 25-cents very quickly. Also, why should we force people who may have abstained until marriage to pay for free stuff for people who just don't want to? Having sex is a choice, and the nanny-state needn't get involved. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy on subsidising contraception.
Old value:: The government subsidises a considerable discount for contraceptives.
Current: The government offers free contraceptives in pharmacies and public toilets.
Proposed: The government does not supply free or discounted contraceptives.

Message | This bill misunderstands a key point: not only condoms are being discounted. A wide variety of contraceptives are being discounted, which allow for people to make smart and safe choices for their own family planning and health. Sex is an important part of life for people, that cannot be misunderstood. It is not feasible to force people to be sexually inactive so as to prevent disease or unwanted pregnancy, sex is going to happen and all this does is make safe sex harder. Message | We aren't forcing people to do anything. They have a choice, and being irresponsible is always an option. They can still have sex if they want. You want to force people to pay for the free stuff of others. |

Message | You keep on putting across this narrative that government expenses are 'forcing people to pay for things'. You have the absolute responsibility to help the less fortunate, that's how a modern country should work. What if I don't want to pay for our military? I still would pay the taxes because it's my responsibility to uphold our defences. Dlila Yeshurun Minister of Health and Social Services |
