Bill: Local Police Enabling Act.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal-Progressive Union

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2199

Description[?]:

The control and managment of the police force will be shifted to the local governments. A local police force which is controlled by the local government and is seperate from the control of the federal police agencies removes the national governments burden of handling and maintaining the combined "quasi-military" police agency that is currently in place. Funding of the police will come from the local governments. The national government will provide funding in certain situations such as a national emergency, or any other serious developments that may arise.

MessageThis would be foolish. Leaving police funding and operation to local government would reduce the ability of the police to coordinate nationwide operations as well as leaving open the possibility that some police forces could be left open to poor funding. Moreover, inter-regional cooperation could be severly hampered due to the lack of co-dependency being the competing forces. We could very well be left in a situation where local police forces would be unable to chase criminals from one constituency to another through fear of interfering with anothers operations.

"federal police" - We are not a federal republic and as such do not have a federal police force.

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators.

Random quote: "The European Union and environmental advocacy groups use global warming hysteria to advance their own special agendas. The European Union recognizes any significant reduction in CO2 emissions by the United States will significantly reduce its economic output, thereby bringing it closer to the inferior output of European nations. Environmental advocacy groups work to stifle economic and industrial progress wherever they find it to inhibit the successful advancement of peoples in developing nations, inevitably making mankind a second class citizen of planet Earth." - Dr. Jay Lehr
