Bill: Lex Belletor de Iudicio Vindictae
Details
Submitted by[?]: Clara Aurora - COSIRA
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 4412
Description[?]:
The choice of corporal punishment as a way of expiating guilt for committing crimes is a way of giving a way out without learning the lesson to those who may reoffend after suffering the punishment. The current function of our nation's prisons is reintegration, but for it, those who commit crimes punishable by jail must spend a period in prison, so that, knowing they are deprived of their liberty, they know that if they do not want to repeat it again, they should not go back to commit their acts. Similarly, considering corporal punishment as a valid way of forgiving crimes is something unbecoming of an advanced society, since through physical pain it is intended to teach a lesson that has not just been assimilated. Message | Senators, Minister Bellletor clearly has never experienced the absolute horror of being separated from her family and friends. If she did, she would know the suffering caused by such separation is far worse than any physical pain. And I hope you'll excuse me for being crass, but does Minister Belletor seriously think flogging is worse than rape? Because rape is far more likely in prison, and Minister Belletor will find herself personally responsible when prison rape becomes a common occurrence again. Haider bin Talal al-Mutanabbi Senator |
