Bill: A Bill to Sanction Ambassador Selwyn for Blatant Political Activity

Details

Submitted by[?]: New Liberal Party of Hutori

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 4415

Description[?]:

Ambassador Selwyn clearly supports the Royalists, not his former party. This is against the rules governing the civil service. This bill calls for Parliament to:

1) Remove Russell Selwyn from his office as Ambassador to St. Muron and Davostan.
2) Prohibit him from running for elected office in 4417.
3) Install another Ambassador as soon as practicable.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Ambassador Russell Selwyn has engaged in political activity to the detriment of his own party and the people of Hutori. The law is clear - civil servants must remain political neutral, or they can't be civil servants. Russ has crossed a line and it is time to remove him from office. I hope all will join me in upholding the law.

MessageMr. Speaker,

This is absurd. Russ was simply stating government policy. You've gone too far this time, Rebecca! I urge my friends in this party to vote against this bill. This is just ridiculous! Do you just hate everyone, Rebecca?! Why are you doing this? Why are you stopping us from doing our jobs?

MessageMr. Speaker

What exactly did Ambassador Selwyn say that warrants his sanction? The statement "hoping cooler heads prevail" is in no way political nor favouring any side, merely an Ambassador commenting on ongoing issued with this House, caused unsurprisingly by the opposite side of this House. Being a Royalist does not mean one has breached Political Independence, nor is being a Republican.

MessagePoint of Order, Mr. Speaker,

The MP from Axminster South just addressed me directly. This clearly violates the rules of this House. I move for his immediate expulsion.

I remind you while you sit in this House you must observe Parliamentary decorum; you speak to this Chair, not to the Member on your bench.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I stand behind my staff, I will not buckle to this blatant disregard for procedure. Nor will I stand for this egregious overstep by Ms. Doyle, her place is not to decide who to keep and who to fire on my staff. I would also like to formally request that Ms. Doyle be placed under investigation immediately by the Parliamentary Ethics Committee

I'll also ask the Honourable Leader of the New Liberals; if the Ambassador must maintain political independence how can he possibly be a member of the New Liberal Party?

MessageMr. Speaker,

My apologies for speaking directly to the member for Prosperity Cove, but I cannot stand by while she lies and sullies the name of a career public servant and ambassador for her majesty's government.

Did the member for Axminster South just call me a liar? This is also clearly against the rules of this house. He has been warned already today, I move for his immediate expulsion from today's proceedings of Parliament.

We second the motion put forward by the Member from Prosperity Cove to expel Mr. Knox, but do not think Selwyn should leave.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I will leave willingly. As I make my way to the door, I ask the entirety of this house to vote against my misguided colleague's bill. I also want to let them know I am ashamed of the way my party has behaved as of late. I will do all I can to make this a functioning body again.

MessageMr Speaker,

I too beg leave to table a motion for a parliamentary ethics committee investigation on the member for Prosperity Cove. Her treatment of her own MPs has been dispicable and the ethics commissioner must look into this issue.

MessageTo the Right Honourable Chancellor and the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs

If you wish to table a motion I would suggest filing such a motion under a new Bill and moving it for a vote rather then attempting to push through a vote on this motion.

Random quote: The Wolfsheim Virus is not a real actual disease in the conventional medical sense of the term. Rather, it is a cluster of symptoms which are just part of the general socio-economic disease that is capitalism. The main symptoms the sufferers are experiencing are a direct result of capitalist poverty, as in malnutrition, poor housing and so on, combined with psycho-somatic symptoms which are a direct consequence of the contradictions and stresses which are inherent to the capitalist system. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer, General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party
